merry holidays 2021 from forestville

Dear friends of Forestville,

In my family, the holidays are when we shine our brightest. We use this time like a torch to tell each other stories, dance like no one is watching, and play stupid games until we pass out. No way are we going to give that up, even if it means doing them together from afar as we continue to navigate the pandemic.

Forestville carries its own magic that comes alive in the darkness. I’ve created this holiday care package to capture the children’s energy and forest magic I’ve been absorbing during this very odd season of life on earth. These gifts have been created to help lighten your heart and share my family’s best ways of being together – even when we’re thousands of miles apart.

listen to a fireside poem

This audio reading is for all you lovers who like being read to beside a warm crackling fire. Don’t want to listen? You can also read the poem.

Disclaimer: Use discretion around little ears. This poem briefly challenges the existence of Santa.

play games

Our family is staying close from afar by playing this Christmas Scavenger Hunt all season long. It’s been revamped for 2021 and designed to play with loved ones no matter how far they are. Play our game with your kinfolk or adapt it to create your own warm hearted mischief.

listen to music

A few of my favorite Christmas songs that will lighten the mood and turn up seasonal magic.

My family will spend the last month in virtual celebrations we’re calling “Christmas Club”. We’ll be hosting virtual murder mystery party, holiday movie nights, game marathons, ancestor story hour, and more.

I’m leaning into my 20+ years of experience designing kids games and digital interactivity along with my last few years of working at a virtual summer camp to help carry us through this very unusual season of life.

Reach out if you’d like more distance celebration ideas or want to work with me as a coach!

Love,

Your friend from the forest

P.S. You’ve read this far? You deserve a special treat from last year’s Christmas Scavenger Hunt. You’re welcome.
